Hello! SAN MIGUEL

New Fire Truck for San Miguel! Unit 355 Named After Governor Libia Denisse

Date:

Well, our incredible fire department, the Honorable, Historic, and Heroic Cuerpo de Bomberos de San Miguel de Allende, held a super special and heartfelt ceremony. They rolled out their brand-spankin’ new Unit 355, and guess what? They decided to name it in honor of our state governor, Libia Denisse García Muñoz Ledo! How awesome is that?

This wasn’t just about getting a new emergency truck; it was a real shout-out to the amazing dedication and bravery of the firefighters who put their lives on the line to keep us all safe.

Jesús Mercadillo, the big boss over at the Fire Department’s board, shared with pride that these heroes have been serving the San Miguel community for over 40 years. Talk about some serious commitment to our town!

And about that shiny new fire engine? During his speech, Mercadillo said with honor, “We will also put this truck at the service of the community to attend to any emergencies that are required. With pleasure and honor, we christen it with the name of Libia Denisse García Muñoz Ledo.” A pretty cool way to say thanks, right?

But wait, there’s a little more to the story! Mercadillo also took the chance to ask Governor Libia Denisse for a hand in fixing up an old English fire truck – one of the very first ones they used way back when they started protecting San Miguel. This old-timer represents the humble beginnings of the department, when they didn’t have much but had a huge heart to serve. You gotta respect that history!

During the ceremony, Governor Libia Denisse even got a firefighter’s helmet, and she wore it with a big smile. In her speech, she made sure to highlight just how important the work is that the brave men and women of our Fire Department do.

“I feel very proud to see the women and men of this great heritage city who continue with bravery, dedication, and a true vocation of service,” she said. “The firefighters go beyond exhaustion because they put on their uniform time and time again to save lives, protect homes, and attend to the population when they are in an emergency.”

The Governor totally recognized that being a firefighter is a deep act of selflessness, especially for those who stick with it for decades. She gave a big thumbs-up to how the department has grown from a small group with limited gear to a well-respected organization known for being organized and dedicated.

“Today, it is an honor to accompany the firefighters and put into operation Unit 355 of the honorable, historic, and heroic fire department of San Miguel de Allende, because it is great news not only for this municipality but for all of Guanajuato,” Governor Libia Denisse García Muñoz Ledo added.

After the official stuff, they had a blessing for the new truck. And in a fun and traditional move, Governor Libia Denisse got to spray the first blast of water from Unit 355, officially kicking off its service. Talk about making a splash!

This new ride is a fantastic addition to the fire department’s gear, making sure they can keep responding quickly and effectively to any emergency that pops up in our city.

Just a little reminder for everyone, our Fire Department of San Miguel de Allende has been around since 1983, and they’ve been working hard ever since to fight fires, prevent them, and help out with accidents in our municipio. They’re true heroes in our community!

Let’s all give a big round of applause to our amazing firefighters and Governor Libia Denisse for their commitment to keeping us safe! Stay awesome, San Miguel!
