So, the scoop is that our buddy, Deputy Ricardo Ferro, is working hard to make San Miguel de Allende part of the intercity train that will link Mexico City to Guadalajara. It seems like a no-brainer, especially since we have so many tourists flocking to our town. Who doesn’t want to pop over here for a quick visit?
Ferro, who is also the head honcho of the Tourism Commission in the local Congress, believes it’s high time our town gets a seat at the train table. He pointed out that we’ve had trains passing through back in the day, so clearly, those tracks have just been gathering dust. All it takes is a little bit of TLC to get them back in action!
But here’s the twist! While he’s hoping to sprinkle a little magic dust to bring more tourism into San Miguel, he also mentioned those pesky travel warnings from the U.S. government. And, yeah, they kind of put a damper on things.
He recognized that these warnings don’t really help our state’s reputation but, hey, we’ve got to keep working to make sure visitors feel safe and sound while enjoying all the beauty San Miguel has to offer.
