Hey there, lovely readers!
Today we’ve got some exciting news about one of our local stars, boxing champ Uziel “Pajarito” Bueno. This San Miguel de Allende native is packing his gloves and heading down to Guatemala for a big showdown on August 2nd. He’ll be vying for the Latin championship of the International Women’s Boxing Organization (IWBO) against the undefeated Wyatt Trujillo. Talk about a fight to keep an eye on!
Now, for a little background on our local hero—at just 27 years old, Uziel has been on the boxing scene for quite a while. He kicked things off in amateur boxing seven years ago and has racked up an impressive record of 24 fights, with only two losses. Not too shabby, right? After tasting success at the regional level, he decided to trade in his amateur gloves for the pros four years ago, and he’s been making waves ever since.
In his professional career, Uziel has fought a total of ten bouts, scoring six wins and proudly claiming the title of regional champion last year. “It was a tough fight, but we hung on to the championship,” Uziel said with a smile. He’s a motivated guy with his eyes set on greatness.
This fight is no joke—Uziel will be stepping into the ring for an eight-round battle in the super middleweight category. Sure, he’ll be facing some home-court pressure in Guatemala, but he’s got high hopes. “It’s a bit nerve-racking as we’re fighting on their turf,” he said. “But we’re feeling pumped and ready to bring that championship back to San Miguel de Allende.”
Big shoutout to his trainer, Rodrigo Pacheco, who’s been in his corner pushing Uziel to be his best and helping him secure opportunities like this. “Guatemala reached out to us wanting Uziel to take on this challenge, and we thought, ‘Why not?’” Pacheco remarked.
So mark your calendars for August 2nd at 6 PM! This is definitely going to be one for the books, and we’re all rooting for Uziel to bring that title back home. Whether you’re a fan of the sport or just want to cheer on a local hero, this fight has something for everyone.
That’s all for now, folks! Keep your eyes peeled for updates on Uziel’s journey, and let’s send him our good vibes across the border. Until next time, stay cool and keep smiling!
